Hard luck to our u14s on the end of a 4-3 defeat today on the 2nd round of the National Cup to a strong Shoundtrade team.
Shoundtrade started off the stronger and took the lead in the first half. Hibs settled into the game after going behind and created numerous chances and got their reward just before the break with a calm finish by Danny Wymbs.
HT 1-1
Hibs started the second half well with the better possession and and deservedly took the lead with a long range strike from Jamie Bryant that dropped perfectly under the cross bar to put the home team in front. Shoundtrade battled hard to get back into the game and within 10 minutes got back on level terms. Hibs fought to try and regain the lead but a quick counterattack and a super strike into the top corner from the away striker left our keeper with no chance. 2-3
The momentum had shifted to the away team and as Hibs committed more bodies forward in search of an equaliser the Limerick side took advantage of a another counterattack and took the lead 4-2.
Hibs never gave up, pressed hard and got themselves back in contention when Gianmarco Laoreti slotted the ball past the Shoundtrade keeper. Deep into injury time Hibs regained possession and and started a great attack when unfortunately the ref blew the final whistle.
FT Hibs 3-4 Shoundtrade
MOTM for Hibs today Jamie Bryant who worked tirelessly in the midfield.
